Corporate Operations Manager – Construction Materials or Yard

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations across yard locations serving the construction industry. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations involving material handling, equipment use, and customer service. The Operations Manager leads and supports equipment operators, scale attendants, and yard personnel while coordinating closely with sales, dispatch, and logistics to meet customer and operational demands.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Yard Management

Oversee day-to-day operations of yard facilities supplying materials to the construction industry
Ensure efficient material flow, loading/unloading, weighing, and dispatch processes
Monitor productivity, workflow, and operational performance across yards
Coordinate equipment availability and yard readiness to meet customer and project demands


People Leadership & Supervision

Lead, coach, and support equipment operators, scale attendants, and yard staff
Ensure adequate staffing levels and support scheduling as required


Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety legislation, including OHSA requirements
Promote and enforce safe work practices, policies, and procedures


Customer & Stakeholder Coordination

Work closely with sales, dispatch, and logistics teams to support customer needs
Address operational issues impacting customer service and delivery timelines
Act as a point of escalation for yard-related concerns


Equipment & Asset Oversight

Monitor equipment utilization and report issues or improvement opportunities


Continuous Improvement & Reporting

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and service quality
Assist with developing and maintaining standard operating procedures
Support company initiatives related to growth, compliance, and operational excellence

Qualifications & Experience

5+ years of operations or yard management experience in construction, aggregates, materials supply, or a related industry
Proven experience supervising front-line operational staff
Strong understanding of construction materials, yard operations, or logistics environments
Working knowledge of Ontario health and safety regulations
Experience managing heavy equipment operations is an asset
Strong leadership and team management skills
Proficiency with operational systems, reporting tools, and basic computer applications

Working Conditions

Primarily based in yard and outdoor environments
Exposure to construction materials, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions
Occasional extended hours may be required to meet operational demands

Operations Manager to support the Production team in cross‑functional operational activities.

Responsibilities
· Responsible for implementation of all manufacturing quality systems, and team performance with accountability to zero defects, through the identification of root cause.

· Comply with the facility’s World Class Manufacturing principles in order to meet the established targets and objectives.

Implement and maintain “5S” to ensure work areas are kept in neat and orderly condition.
Formulate timely and effective response to all corrective action requests raised by the customer or identified during internal audits.
Responsible for implementation and maintenance of manufacturing technical processes and control of manufacturing operating costs
Leverage lean methodologies to identify waste and streamline processes
Drive initiatives that enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through improved availability, performance, and quality across production operations.
World Class Manufacturing (WCM) through the standardization of WCM methodology and the application
Participate in the review and recommendation for capital improvement for equipment and plant facilities.
Ensure policies and procedures are in accordance with IATF 16949 standards with respect to quality of work


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business; engineering or equivalent post-secondary education
Minimum of eight (8) years of manufacturing experience with at least three (3) years in a management role, preferably within the automotive industry.
Plant SQDCM (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale) objectives
Experience in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles
Implementing process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase product quality in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience in injection moulding processes
Strong understanding of production techniques and quality control measures specific to an injection moulding operation.
Solid understanding of Ontario EH&S legislation.

Responsibilities

Supervise staff during manufacturing process and lead other employees
Planning, managing and directing of the Molding Operations
Ensuring timely completion of maintenance work and mold changes.
Verification of job cycle times, scrap control and downtime reduction.
Timely follow up on tooling and maintenance work orders.
Production floor housekeeping & 5S activities.
Lead daily shift production meeting.
Report on Molding shift performance
Maintain quality and productivity production records
Report production status, and other appropriate metrics.
Investigate quality issues, process delays, material shortages, tool or equipment problems and take corrective action.
Assist with preventative maintenance procedures on all equipment
Analyze equipment requirements and recommend replacement or new equipment as required.


Requirements

Minimum 2 year Technical diploma or equivalent work experience.
Require two years of technical experience in plastic injection molding with ability to troubleshoot.
3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in an injection molding environment.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
Experience in supervising process in plastic injection molding
