Job Description Summary
This Assistant Manager of Purchasing directs and coordinates the planning & execution of the supply chain activities for service parts. Manages a staff of purchasing professionals and oversees the end to end purchasing process. Is responsible for procurement, inventory management, supplier commercial relations, control & monitoring of material master data and all related planning and sourcing activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the oversight of the Purchasing Analyst(s), Material Planner(s) & Demand Planner(s)
- Manage execution and analysis of material forecasting (SAP eSPP) results
- Manage Inventory Planning (SAP DRP) for cost-effective procurement and to meet KPI’s for Fill Rate, Inventory turns and MOS
- Perform data mining functions and create reports to help manage the business.
- Support S4HANA & S4HANA eSPP by being the SME in all core modules
- Material master data completeness, accuracy & effectiveness
- Monitor the ordering of materials and the full scope of the purchase order work flow
- Review purchase orders and monitor confirmations and supplier on-time shipping performance.
- Review supplier delivery performance and establish effective expediting of materials
- Determine material control requirements using eSPP/S4 and related control elements
- Manage the end to end Kit to Stock (KTS) processes to support internally kitted materials
- Direct Purchasing team in the daily processes and projects.
- Regularly evaluate, train & coach staff toward continuous improvement.
- Supervise and develop process models for internal procedures and continuous improvement
- Find, evaluate, select suppliers
- Assist in managing the commercial relationship with suppliers including negotiations and supplier agreements.
- Drive the part and process qualification for supplier and material quality
- Prepare RFQ’s
- Regularly evaluate supplier performance with KPI
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- Min 8 years experience with purchasing and inventory management disciplines
- 5 years supervisory experience
- Experience with purchasing processes, and supply chain management
- Experience with MRP/ERP & forecasting processes; preferably within SAP
- Knowledge of inventory management standards and practices
- Strong problem solving skills and discernment for various decisions such as selection of MRP status and type for inventory control
- Ability to create process flow and department procedures and prepare written procedure and process documents.
