Senior Accountant
Our client, a small, established, Canadian Accounting Firm, is looking to hire a Senior Accountant to joint their team in Mississauga.
In this role you will lead a variety of engagements, providing tax, audit, general accounting and other advisory services to our small business, large corporate and high net worth individual clients.
Responsibilities:
· Consult with clients to gather information required to plan for engagements
· Identify risks and required controls
· Manage client relationships, ensuring regular communications and reporting thru engagement process
· Work with office manager to schedule staff based on skills, availability and client commitments
· Plan, supervise and contribute to work required to complete client tax, audit, accounting and advisory work.
· Conduct process reviews, coach and mentor more junior team members
· Review of tax returns, supporting more junior team members with more complex files
· Guide and review preparation of financial statements
· Preparation of reports for advisory work
· Support and direct bookkeeping staff as appropriate to ensure quality of work
· Oversee all CRA tax audits
· Support continued growth of business thru identification of additional opportunities for services with existing clients or engaging with new potential clients
Requirements:
· Bachelors degree in accounting and CPA Designation
· Min 1-2 years leading client engagements and overseeing work of other team members
· Solid understanding of accounting standards and guidelines, including ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise)
· Strong working knowledge of income tax act for both personal and corporate clients
· Solid understanding of bookkeeping
· Strong communication, collaboration, and client management skills
· Strong organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail
· Able to prioritize, plan, schedule and manage multiple engagements to meet deadlines
· Expert level Excel skills
· Experience with CaseWare or similar engagement management platform
· Experience with Quick Books, Sage or related applications
