Production Engineering Manager

• Production Engineering Manager will lead the production engineering team responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes specific to production, fabrication, assembly, processing and final assembly.
• Provide engineering solutions are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with industry standards.
• Strong background in mechanical manufacturing, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of production engineers and technicians in manufacturing.
• Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality
• Create, maintain, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production floor activities, ensuring consistency, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with design, quality, and operations teams to ensure manufacturability of new models and variants.
• Oversee the installation, maintenance, and improvement of production equipment
• Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., OHSA, CSA, IEEE, ISO).
• Manage engineering budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
• Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues, including electrical faults and mechanical defects.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff through training, coaching, and performance management.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Must have a professional Engineer designation P. Eng
• 7+ years of experience in production or manufacturing engineering,
• Experience in assembly manufacturing or electrical equipment production.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization.
• Proven experience in developing and managing SOPs in a production environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software and manufacturing systems (e.g., ERP, MES).
• Familiarity with testing standards and procedures is a plus.
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
• Experience with high-voltage or distribution transformer production.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, CSA, and IEEE standards.
