Job Summary
The Process Engineer is going to drive continuous improvement by working independently or in conjunction with Engineering, Production, maintenance, or vendors to analyze and develop solutions to improve on or solve issues in the Injection Molding Department. This includes design, development or modifications of new and existing processes, equipment, tooling, materials, cost, or quality improvement projects.
Responsibilities
• Identify and pursue cost savings initiatives.
• Involvement in the design, testing and signing off on new equipment/processes on Molding’s behalf
• Participate in cause and corrective action analysis, implementing solutions related to the molding process.
• Lead resolution of process / product quality issues.
• Analyze data to troubleshoot equipment, tools and processes.
• Utilize Statistical Process Control to establish process tolerances.
• Provide leadership and drive improvement actions regarding equipment upgrades and purchases
• Ensure appropriate documentation, spare parts and preventative maintenance programs are in place by project completion
• Provide training for technicians and supervisors
• Perform Design of Experiments.
• Establish and document robust processes.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities by providing solutions that eliminate waste and process variation.
Qualifications
• Post graduate degree or diploma, preferably in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
• Excellent leadership/management, written & verbal communication, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in injection molded/thermoformed plastics
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and applications.
• Strong mechanical ability and proven ability to root cause and determine permanent corrective actions.
• Sound understanding of Statistical Process Control, Process Capability, and Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
• A working knowledge of the injection molding process, molds and, peripheral equipment.
